Frequently Asked Questions
-
When are auditions?
Auditions usually happen each year at the end of the summer. We occasionally have flash auditions mid season if we are able to add more dancers to our roster. For the 2026 season our auditions are in November. More information can be found on the Auditions page of our website.
2. If I miss the audition date can I still join?
If you have a conflict on the audition dates please email EliteEmpireVA@gmail.com at least TWO WEEKS prior to the audition for possible accommodations. If the audition dates have already passed you are no longer eligible to join the team for that season.
3. Do I need experience to audition?
No experience is needed! However, when auditioning we are looking at how coachable dancers are, their energy, and passion for the art of dance. At the very least, dancers should be willing to learn and take direction.
4. What are the audition requirements?
Please refer to the Auditions page.
5. Can I sign my child up for classes?
Elite Empire is not a recreational team or studio with classes. We are a competition team, and do not offer sessional classes. We can, however, offer membership on our team.
6. What are dance styles/classes my dancer can take elsewhere to prepare themselves for the team?
Each dance style has transferable skills, and dancers can learn stage presence, confidence, musicality, and technique through them! Some classes/styles we highly recommend are Jazz, Hip Hop, and Cheer.
7. How long is one Season?
Our season length varies and is listed on the audition registraion form.
8. When does Elite Empire Compete & Perform?
Elite Empire spends an average of 1-2 months training prior to performing and 2-4 prior to competing. Competitions happen year round after that period. Each season we average around 3-5 competitions, and 5+ performances.
9. My dancer isn't 8 yet, can she still join?
Elite Empire is an advanced Majorette/Hip Hop team. Dancers who are younger than 8 are permitted to audition if they have the focus and maturity to dance alongside dancers 8+. Please also note that dancers have required hairstyles and attire and decide alongside your dancer if this is something they will be comfortable with.
10. How much does it cost to join?
The current audition fee is $15/dancer. Elite Empire monthly fees and uniform fees are disclosed to auditioning dancers and during the parent/dancer meeting.
11. Will I have to get a specific hairstyle?
Elite Empire has a diverse group of dancers with hair of different textures and lengths. Each season we select hairstyles with this in mind in order to be uniform and inclusive. Yes, dancers will have to get their hair in the selected style.
